NuSTAR launched from a Pegasus XL rocket that was released at an altitude of about 40,000 feet by the Stargazer, an L-1011 aircraft.

Fun fact: Katalyst’s LINK spacecraft, which will attempt a boost of our Swift telescope this summer, will also launch on a Pegasus XL!
