Major Space Related Activities for the Week
- Hurricane Milton has delayed NASA Crew-8’s return from the ISS to no earlier than Thursday at 3:05 a.m. EDT, with an ocean splashdown planned off the Florida coast.
- SpaceX received FAA clearance for Monday’s Falcon 9 launch of ESA’s Hera mission to the Didymos/Dimorphos asteroid pair from Cape Canaveral. Falcon 9 launches had been suspended following an off-nominal burn during the September 28 NASA Crew-9 mission.
- NASA’s Europa Clipper mission to Jupiter’s moon has also been postponed, awaiting FAA approval.
- Meanwhile, Blue Origin’s New Shepard NS-27 launch remains on track for Monday at 12:10 p.m. EDT from West Texas.
- This week, major space organizations like the American Astronomical Society and NASA’s Science Committee are holding meetings.
- On Thursday, Kathy Sullivan will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Women in Aerospace annual awards dinner..
