Reaching the lunar surface with astronauts aboard the Eagle lander, the milestone stands as a long-lasting symbol of robust teamwork with strong and decisive leadership, according to the op-ed.

Major Space Related Activities for the Week
- This week marks the 55th anniversary of Apollo 11, the NASA mission that placed human explorers, the late Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, on the surface of the Moon for the first time. The 55th anniversary of the launch of Armstrong, Aldrin and command module pilot Mike Collins falls on Tuesday and the landing on Saturday, which is known as International Moon Day.
- On Tuesday, NASA will roll out the core stage of the Boeing SLS core stage rocket assigned to the Artemis II Moon mission from the Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans for shipment to the Kennedy Space Center for a planned September 2025 launch.
- The American Astronautical Society hosts the 2024 Glenn Space Symposium in Cleveland running Monday through Wednesday with a space sustainability theme.
