NASA’s Orion partner Aerojet Rocketdyne has recently completed a milestone in additive manufacturing–12 nozzle extensions for Orion’s crew module reaction control system (RCS). The nozzle extensions will provide greater stability to the RCS system and will allow the craft to be maneuvered with a high degree of accuracy.

Using 3-D printing, Aerojet Rocketdyne was able to produce the nozzle extensions 40% faster than using traditional methods. This tech will eventually help to significantly lower the cost of spacecraft manufacturing.
