Exploring deep space is vital to maintaining U.S. leadership in space exploration and stimulating our economy through technological innovation and advancement. NASA’s mission to design and build the capability to extend human existence throughout deep space is made possible, sustainable and affordable with the Orion Spacecraft, Space Launch System and Ground Systems Development programs. Together, these programs will enable humans to travel farther into the solar system, spawn new technological advancements and result in unprecedented scientific discoveries about our universe.
The exploration industry team members making these systems a reality are committed to deep space exploration and are building momentum for NASA’s next step to deep space with this year’s first flight – Exploration Flight Test-1. This flight test will send the Orion crew module more than 3,600 miles beyond Earth and test out the spacecraft’s high-speed reentry capability upon its return to Earth. No other human-rated spacecraft has traveled this far into space since the Apollo Program’s last mission returned from the moon in 1972.
The Deep Space Partners is a collective industry partnership dedicated to supporting NASA’s mission of deep space exploration. We have come together to engage the public in the missions that will unfold in the near future and demonstrate the value of exploring space to U.S. leadership in science, technology, the economy, defense and global cooperation and diplomacy.
The Deep Space Alliance (DSA) is a 501(c)(4) non-profit membership organization representing a coalition of government, private sector and non-profit leaders committed to human and robotic exploration beyond the Moon.
