1. From Spaceflightnow.com:  A Russian Progress cargo capsule embarks Wednesday on a three-day journey to the International Space Station. Saturday’s docking will deliver more than 5,300 pounds of fuel, water, compressed air, food, clothing and other supplies to the six astronauts.

From the Associated Press via the Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Orlando Sentinel and others: Using NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope, scientists find evidence for widespread distribution of a soccer ball shaped carbon molecule called “bucky balls.”  These small resilient structures may have helped to seed life on Earth, researchers believe.

4. From Science News: Astronomers find a neutron star with a mass twice that of the sun. J1614-2230 lurks 3,000 light years from the Earth. The finding suggests neutron stars are comprised of ordinary matter, rather than something more exotic.
