1. From Spaceflightnow.com: NASA’s Mars Science Laboratory, launched in late November, collects radiation measurements on its transit to the Red Planet. The measurements will help experts determine the radiation risks that astronauts would encounter on a future journey.  MSL, also known as Curiosity, is to reach Mars in early August.

3. From Space.com: NASA’s Dawn spacecraft begins the low altitude mapping phase of its mission to Vesta.

4. From the Huntsville Times: The commercial space transportation company Sierra Nevada signs an agreement to conduct pre-flight testing of the company’s Dream Chaser at the Marshall Space Flight Center.  Sierra Nevada is among participants in NASA’s commercial crew development program.

5. From the Los Angeles Times: A Redondo Beach aerospace complex known as Space Park receives an historic place designation from the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. The complex was active during the Cold War producing spacecraft for the national defense.

6. From the Houston Chronicle: Op-ed columnist Bill King finds NASA’s Johnson Space Center focused on future exploration, following the shuttle program’s retirement.
