Friday’s CSExtra features the latest reporting on space activities around the world. NASA is hopeful of talking to the trapped Chilean miners who surfaced this week and their rescuers for a “lessons learned session” on dealing with isolation. The Discovery astronauts discuss their upcoming mission to the international Space Station, which is scheduled for a Nov. 1 launching.  NASA’s astronaut core has dropped to 65 members, plus a half-dozen in training as the shuttle nears retirement.  A satellite software technology is improving the quality of mammography. NASA, which provided counsel to the Chileans on physical and mental health issues, would like to know what worked, and what did not.

3. From Florida Today: The six astronauts nearing a Nov. 1 launching on the shuttle Discovery discuss their mission to the International Space Station with Florida news reporters on Thursday. The last flight of NASA’s senior orbiter is “bitter sweet,” says Discovery commander Steve Lindsey.
