WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 5) – The Coalition for Deep Space Exploration (CDSE) is deeply grateful to Chairman Cruz (R.-Texas), and the members of the Senate Commerce, Science, and Technology Committee for their leadership and clear commitment to advancing America’s space program. Their actions reaffirm a bipartisan and long-standing national commitment and strategy, enshrined in law, that will carry Artemis forward and secure U.S. leadership on the lunar surface and beyond.

In particular, the Committee’s recognition of the critical role existing vehicles and capabilities play in exploration beyond Artemis III is not only timely, but also essential. As China accelerates its efforts in space, the stakes could not be higher. This is a race back to the Moon that the United States must win.
Choosing to cede our leadership in space to China is not an acceptable option.
