Coalition for Deep Space Exploration Applauds Blue Origin Selection for Lunar Lander
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Coalition for Deep Space Exploration (CDSE) applauds NASA’s announcement of the selection of Blue Origin and their partners to provide a second lander as part of the next steps for sustained human exploration of the Moon. It will aid development of the systems and operational capabilities required to enable human missions to the Moon for years to come.
“NASA’s selection of a second lander that will provide regular service to the lunar surface for the Artemis program represents our commitment to a long-term campaign of lunar exploration by humans on the lunar surface,” said CDSE President and CEO Allen Cutler. “CDSE members are proud to work with NASA and Blue Origin on the additional lander capability, which reduces mission risk and enables NASA to plan and execute a regular cadence of missions which will bring further strength and stability to the program.”
The Artemis Program consists of a series of missions relying on multiple space transportation systems and innovative industry capabilities, including launch and crew vehicles, landers, and space suits, to achieve the goal of establishing a sustained and sustainable presence on the Moon in preparation for a crewed mission to Mars. The lander selection further establishes the United States, its associated space industrial base, and its international partners as the leaders in human exploration.
