Coalition for Deep Space Exploration Applauds Artemis II Crew Announcement
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Coalition for Deep Space Exploration (CDSE) applauds NASA’s announcement of Mission Specialist Christina Koch, Canadian Mission Specialist Jeremy Hansen, Pilot Victor Glover, and Mission Commander Reid Wiseman to crew the Artemis II mission. Scheduled for November of 2024, the Artemis II mission will carry its crew to the Moon and back, testing systems in preparation for a human lunar landing in 2025.
“After the successful Artemis I mission, CDSE is very excited to see the crew announcement for the Artemis II mission,” said CDSE President and CEO Allen Cutler. “We offer our congratulations to the astronauts; they will be an inspiration to Americans and to the world. Their mission also will serve as an inspiration for a new generation of explorers, technicians, engineers, and scientists who will take us deeper into space. Our members are actively engaged in preparing for Artemis II and look forward to safely taking the crew on its flight to the Moon next year.”
CDSE members from across the country form the backbone of the Artemis program, working on the Space Launch System, the Orion spacecraft, the ground operations for launch, the Lunar Gateway, and other key systems to take us to the Moon. Building on the outstandingly successful Artemis I mission, Artemis II paves the way for a sustained human presence on the Moon, a necessary precursor on the road to Mars.
