Major Space-Related Activities for the Week

  • While a specific date has not yet been set, the U.S. Senate could vote prior to year’s end on Jared Isaacman to become NASA’s Administrator.
  • Early Thursday, Blue Origin is preparing for the 37th launch of a reusable, suborbital New Shepard with six private astronauts, including a first, the launch of Michi Benthaus, who is confined to a wheelchair due to a 2018 mountain biking accident.
  • On Friday, NASA astronaut Jonny Kim, a U.S. Navy Seal and Harvard Medical School educated flight surgeon, is scheduled to discuss his 285-day mission to the ISS during a NASA news briefing planned for 3:30 p.m. ET.
  • Kim returned to Earth early on December 8 with two Russian cosmonauts.
  • Also, on Friday at 2 p.m. ET, the NASA Aerospace Safety Advisory Panel is to convene for an hour-long session, with virtual access.
