Major Space Related Activities for the Week of Feb 10th:
- NASA’s SPHEREx/PUNCH missions, which are to look far back into the history of the universe and observe the Sun’s very hot corona and the solar wind, are set to launch from Vandenberg Space Force Base, California on Tuesday at 10:09 p.m. EST.
- That is to be followed by a landing on the Moon of Intuitive Machines second lunar lander on Thursday at midday, with a touchdown closer to the lunar south pole than any previous mission and with 10 NASA science and technology payloads.
- NASA’s Crew-9 astronauts Butch Wilmore, Suni Williams, Nick Hague and cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov are to participate in a NASA news conference on Tuesday at 11:55 a.m. EST to discuss their activities aboard the ISS prior to their departure back to Earth later this month.
- In Washington D.C., President Trump is to deliver a State of the Union address on Tuesday night.
- Meanwhile, the U.S. House and Senate continue to work toward budget resolutions and a spending agreement for the remainder of the 2025 fiscal year that began October 1 of last year without a budget. The current budget continuing resolution expires on March 14. Without a budget agreement for the remainder of the 2025 fiscal year, there could be a government shutdown.
