CDSE Celebrates 55th Anniversary of Apollo 11 Moon Landing
WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 20) — The Coalition for Deep Space Exploration (CDSE) commemorates the 55th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing, a historic achievement that not only marked humanity’s first steps on the lunar surface but also demonstrated the limitless potential of space exploration. Thousands of NASA and space industry workers enabled Astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin to make history as they set foot on the Moon on July 20, 1969, while Michael Collins provided critical support in orbit. The Apollo 11 mission remains a testament to human perseverance, scientific curiosity, and the power of international collaboration.
“Celebrating the anniversary of the achievement of the Apollo 11 mission reminds us of the extraordinary accomplishments that are possible through innovation and determination,” said Coalition for Deep Space Exploration President and CEO Allen Cutler. “As we reflect on this incredible achievement, we also are excited to look forward to the next giant leap in space exploration with the Artemis II mission. NASA and its industry partners are inspired by the legacy of Apollo and committed to pushing the boundaries of human exploration with Artemis. Much like Apollo 11, the Artemis II mission will not only advance our capability to explore but also serve as a beacon of inspiration for future generations of explorers as we return to the Moon.”
The Artemis program represents the next chapter in human space exploration. The upcoming Artemis II mission will test critical systems and gain valuable insights that will prepare us for returning astronauts to the surface of the Moon. CDSE and its members are dedicated to supporting the goals of Artemis to advance space exploration and pursue scientific knowledge.
