Thursday’s CSExtra includes new reports on Washington’s response to Florida job losses as NASA’s shuttle program ends. There’s new commentary on NASA’s future course, plus reports on developments in space science and engineering.
1. From Florida Today: U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke visits NASA’s Kennedy Space Center on Wednesday to tour and meet with workers. Locke co-chairs with NASA Administrator Charles Bolden, a task force producing an Aug. 15 report for the White House. The report will present options for diversifying the Florida economy in response to the shuttle program retirement. More than anything, workers want some certainty so they can begin to plan their lives, says Locke.
