On this day in 1997, NASA and the European Space Agency’s Cassini-Huygens mission was launched from Cape Canaveral.
Cassini-Huygens is a monumental mission to Saturn that is still returning valuable data today. The mission included the Huygens lander that became the first spacecraft to land on Saturn’s moon Titan.
Huygens provided incredible images of the moon’s surface, and helped scientists determine the composition and history of Titan. Cassini continues to orbit Saturn and its moons, and the images the spacecraft sends back are nothing short of amazing.
