Wednesday’s CSExtra offers the latest reporting and commentary on space related activities from around the world. At the Kennedy Space Center, top NASA leaders outline a promising but challenging future as the agency nurtures new commercial space transportation systems and plans future missions of human exploration. India launches four satellites for studies of the Earth’s environment. A NASA spacecraft finds titanium deposits on the moon. Astronauts and students mingle in Los Angeles, as NASA turns ownership of the shuttle Endeavour over to the California Science Center.  Former NASA astronaut Jose Hernandez, the son of migrant farm workers, explains why he is running for Congress.

1. From Florida Today: NASA Administrator Charles Bolden joins Kennedy Space Center managers on Tuesday as they outline a promising future for the installation to community leaders and employees. Kennedy is managing the agency’s commercial space transportation initiative and will serve as the launch site for NASA’s Space Launch System — a heavy lift rocket and crew capsule designed for the eventual human exploration of Mars. However, the transition away from the shuttle’s retirement will be difficult. Thousands have lost their jobs and the start of a gradual jobs recovery is not expected until 2013.
