Boehner: Vote on CR will wait until September

Spacepolicyonline.com (7/24): With adjournments fast approaching in the House and Senate and deliberations on a budget for 2015 far from complete,  House Speaker John Boehner points to September for a budget Continuing Resolution to keep the federal government open after the 2014 fiscal year ends on Sept. 30. NASA, like most federal agencies, awaits budget legislation.

Space.com (7/24): Four Japanese, European and U.S. astronauts are sharing the cozy confines of an undersea lab off the Atlantic Coast near Key West, Fla., this week to develop tools and techniques for exploring the moon, asteroids and Mars.

USS Hornet welcomes space pioneer Buzz Aldrin

San Francisco Bay (7/24): This weekend, the U.S. Navy Apollo mission recovery ship the USS Hornet will welcome Apollo 11 crew member Buzz Aldrin to San Francisco for ceremonies. The eight day Apollo 11 mission, the first to reach the lunar surface with human explorers, marked its 45th anniversary this week.

Moscow Times (7/24): Russia loses command authority over an unmanned orbital spacecraft launched July 19 with a variety of biological specimens. The spacecraft, with its cargo of plants and animals, continues to transmit telemetry to Earth.

House Committee members and ISS astronauts reflect on Apollo 11, look to future

Collectpace.com (7/23): Space Center Houston plans a public event around the next phase of preparations for its space shuttle display and tribute. The full scale mockup of Independence, a replica of a winged shuttle orbiter, will be hoisted atop an authentic NASA 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft in a public ceremony on Aug. 14.
