Experience the drama of humankind’s first moon landing in a new creative format.

Thamtech, LLC, has developed a multimedia  online  recreation of the Apollo 11 July 20, 1969 landing at the Sea of Tranquility.

The production weaves together imagery from the Apollo 11 Lunar Excursion Module Eagle and the voices of commander Neil Armstrong, pilot Buzz Aldrin, Columbia command module pilot Mike Collins with the Mission Control air-to-ground and flight director’s communications loops at NASA’s Johnson Space Center.

Five more Apollo missions with astronauts visited the moon through Dec. 1972.

Thamtech, which specializes in website and software audio-visual synchronization, drew from a range of NASA resources for its production.

Though we know the outcome: Armstrong and Aldrin touchdown successfully — the interplay could have you at the edge or your seat.

Famed flight director Gene Kranz orchestrates from Mission Control. Apollo astronaut Charlie Duke, in his role as capsule communicator, and guidance officer Steve Bales, both in Mission Control, work through a series of cockpit alarms aboard Eagle with Aldrin and Kranz listening in moments before Armstrong’s touchdown at 4:17 p.m., EDT.

The interplay includes sensor readings of Armstrong’s heartbeat. The control team watches closely as Eagle begins to run low on fuel. The production conveys authoritatively that humankinds’ first visit to another planetary body was far from easy.
