See the Sun like never before – and no shades needed!
A new software tool is available from the European Space Agency (ESA), allowing online lookers to view the entire library of imagery from the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO).
SOHO is a project of international collaboration between NASA and ESA to study the Sun from its deep core to the outer corona and the solar wind.
The new visualization software is called JHelioviewer that enables everyone to explore the Sun.
Using the software, users can create their own movies of the Sun, color the images as they wish, and image-process the movies in real time. They can export their finished movies in various formats, and track features on the Sun by compensating for solar rotation.
