From the Orlando Sentinel — It’s been less than a month since  President Obama outlined his space policy in a Florida speech (April 15 at the Kennedy Space Center). However, it appears the White House direction has little traction, according to the OS. Democrats have not rallied around it.  Some powerful Republicans continue to oppose it as “unrealistic,” even “destructive.” Meanwhile, lobbyists are pushing for a new heavy lift rocket based on space shuttle components. One veteran space policy analyst says the proposals including a human mission to an asteroid by 2025 have settled in “purgatory.”
