Can you name all of our Mars missions? With a success rate of about 50%, the incredibly difficult path to Mars is littered with failed spacecraft.

While the U.S. has had moderately more success with Mars missions, the losses of the Mars Observer, the Mars Climate Orbiter, and the Mars Polar Lander were devastating to the scientific community, and served to underscore the fact that it will be a long, long time before a mission to Mars is routine.
